In order to win at roulette you need to predict which slot the ball will land in after each spin. As luck plays a big part in roulette it’s a devil of a job.
A word of warning to anyone looking to take on the wheel; if you add together all the numbers from 1-36 the total is 666!
Blackjack
The game “twenty-one” appeared in American gambling halls in 1910. It wasn’t very popular at first so they tried to spice it up with bonus payouts. One such bonus was a 10-1 payout if the player had the Ace of Spades and either the Jack of Spades or Clubs (the two black jacks). The name remains, though sadly, the bonus payout doesn’t.
The Basics
The object of Blackjack is to get as close to 21 as possible without going over (bust). All pictures count as ten, Aces 1 or 11, with all other cards being treated at face value. To win you need to have a higher points total than the dealer.
Playing Blackjack
To start with you will need to place a bet on the table. Then the players are dealt two cards face up to the dealer’s one. If you have a total of 21 with your first two cards i.e. a picture or a ten with an ace, you win automatically. This is a blackjack and pays 3-2. The players then decide in turn whether to stay with their total or take a card or cards to get closer to 21. Once everyone has finished the dealer takes his cards. If your total is higher you are paid even money. If you have a lower total the dealer will take your bet. The same total for both is a stand-off and nothing happens. If the dealer busts then all remaining hands are paid.

The player antes, and is then dealt a five-card hand; the dealer is also dealt five cards of which only one is exposed. The player now either folds, losing his ante, or bets an additional amount equal to exactly twice the ante. The dealer then reveals his remaining four cards. If the dealer's hand is not Ace-King or better, the player is paid even money on the ante and nothing on the bet. If the dealer's hand is Ace-King or better it is said to "qualify" (for play against the player). In that case if the dealer's hand is better than the player's, the player's ante and bet are collected by the house. If the dealer's qualifying hand is worse than the player's hand, the player is paid even money on the ante and an amount on the bet according to the player's hand as follows:
AK or pair 1:1
Two pair 2:1
Three of a kind 3:1
Straight 4:1
Flush 6:1
Full house 8:1
Four of a kind 20:1
Straight flush 50:1
Royal flush 100:1 |
